Long time no write. Too lazy. Not too much activity. No inspiration. Etc. Trying again.

Yard

On Wednesday, I impulse bought some plants on sale. Got them in the yard today. 

• One Helleborus niger. Planted at the end of the stuff on the right/west of the yard between a vareigated creeping shurb thing I can't remember the name of (but seems to be settling in quite well). I keep planting hellebores, they keep not growing. Read they should be in a place sunny in winter but shady in summer. Also supposed to be easy. We'll see.
• Three Hemerocallis "Vermillion Clouds" (top pic here).

South Forty

I've ordered another set of hedge-for-birds shrubs, to be delivered later this month. The one I got before doesn't really have shrubs we like or that are especially attractive to birds as far as we can tell. So we'll replace some or all of them with this new set (including a Russian olive, Eleagnus angustifolia, which is really a small tree). Due to arrive later this month.

Potager

We got some bales of hay off a neighbor and have spread a thick layer of mulch. Surprised Ed (but not me) by using up most of what we bought. A start.
